Boron is a mineral that is essential for plant health, but not officially recognised as necessary for humans.
Where do you get it?
Boron is in fresh fruits such as apples, pears and grapes; in dried fruits like apricots and prunes; and in nuts, peas, beans and green leafy vegetables.
Actions:
It is said to prevent calcium and magnesium loss from bones, and may help with arthritis symptoms. It helps the body use calcium.
Too little:
Lack of boron may result from eating too much refined food or too little fresh fruit and vegetables. Symptoms show as thinning of bones, arthritis and osteoporosis.
Too much:
Research into boron and its effects is ongoing.
Supplement:
Multi-mineral supplements have trace amounts of boron.
